Tacoma was nicknamed the “City of Destiny” by Allen C. Mason, one of the young city’s staunchest supporters, shortly after his arrival here in 1883. He promoted Tacoma more than any other person, advertising our city’s strengths in east coast papers through a dazzling illustration he called Tacoma’s Star of Destiny. In honor of this belief in the future of Tacomaeven as we celebrate its pastTacoma Historical Society has named this annual event the “Destiny Dinner & Auction.” All proceeds benefit the society’s Allen C. Mason Exhibit Center To volunteer or learn more, call (253) 472-3738 The Tacoma Historical Society |
